The Korean Peninsula in 2019: A Review and Forecast for the New Year

“Please join the National Committee on North Korea (NCNK) and NK News for a discussion of recent developments inside North and South Korea by Seoul-based foreign correspondents and an assessment of how events may unfold in 2019.

Chad O’Carroll, CEO and founder of NK News and its parent company Korea Risk Group, will discuss ways in which sanctions and the “maximum pressure” campaign have and have not impacted daily life in North Korea.

Dagyum Ji, senior correspondent for NK News, will provide an assessment on recent developments in inter-Korean relations and the view from Seoul.

Keith Luse, Executive Director of NCNK, will provide opening remarks and moderate the discussion.

Speakers:

Chad O’Carroll is the founder of NK News, a North Korea specialized news, information and data service that serves researchers, academics and business people around the world. O’Carroll established the website in 2010 while living in Washington, DC. He was a Fellow of the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism (CUNY) and was previously the Director of Communications at the Korea Economic Institute of America. He has an MA in Nuclear Non-proliferation & Intl’ Security from Kings College London and a BA in International Relations from Sussex University.

Dagyum (Kate) Ji is a senior correspondent at NK News in Seoul, where she writes primarily with a focus on inter-Korean relations.”
